Why Bed Bugs Are Surviving

Alana Korol

October 4, 2019

Cimex lectularius also known as the Bed Bug, has become immune to the harsh pesticides that we started off with. A study published in the Journal of Economic Entomology states that these bloodsuckers developed a resistance to the chemicals used in pesticides. Chlorfenapyr and bifenthrin are the two most popular ingredients along with deltamethrin, in typical chemical-based treatments.

Bed Bug Store products are all-natural and organic and no chemicals or poisons are used. Our sprays and diatomaceous earth are harmful to insects but not to humans or pets.

A test was done at Purdue University to see just how affected the bed bug was to those chemicals. They gathered ten-bed bug groups from around the US and introduced them to the chemicals for one week. More than a quarter of bed bugs survived being exposed to bifenthrin and others showed reduced susceptibility to chlorfenapyr.

The reason bed bugs are on the rise again is their new immunity to the chemicals pest control companies use. In 2015, the University of Kentucky conducted a survey with pest management professionals and found that more than two-thirds admitted that bed bugs were the most challenging to remove.

Our bed bugs treatments are all-natural and organic and leave a clean minty scent of peppermint behind. AND it won't cause you or your pets any harm. No chemicals are used just the clean products of nature.

What are people saying about Bed Bug Patrol?

"I had a chance to use this a couple of days ago. I had been sick and had not kept up on my spraying every couple of days to keep them away. I previously used a different brand. When I check, there they were again! I used this and after 3 days they are still gone! It works, smells good, and the pump actually works (it doesn't on other ones I've bought). The booklet they included with the purchase was very informative and helpful as well. I highly recommend this product."

“Naturally I freaked out when I found bed bugs. I called two exterminators, received estimates of $1,700-$2,650 which I would have paid until I started researching other methods and saw the reviews on this product. Vacuumed thoroughly, sprayed as directed, encased box spring and mattress. Repeated vacuum and spray a week later. So far so good!!"

- Debra C.

“This stuff works great for various types of insects, especially bugs, kills them quick! It has an overwhelming peppermint smell, which is great compared to any other type of poison. Has not affected my animals at all. Great product!!"
