Why Bed Bugs Are Surviving

Cimex lectularius, also known as the Bed Bug, has become immune to the harsh pesticides we started with. A study published in the Journal of Economic Entomology states that these bloodsuckers resisted the chemicals used in pesticides. Chlorfenapyr and bifenthrin are the two most popular ingredients in typical chemical-based treatments, along with deltamethrin.
Bed Bug Store products are all-natural and organic, and no chemicals or poisons are used. Our sprays and diatomaceous earth harm insects but not humans or pets.
A test was done at Purdue University to see just how affected the bed bug was by those chemicals. They gathered ten-bed bug groups from around the US and introduced them to the substances for one week. More than a quarter of bed bugs survived exposure to bifenthrin; others showed reduced susceptibility to chlorfenapyr.
Bed bugs are on the rise again because of their new immunity to the chemicals pest control companies use. In 2015, the University of Kentucky surveyed pest management professionals and found that more than two-thirds admitted that bed bugs were the most challenging to remove.
